21 februari 2013 - Kangaroo Island, Australië
Things we learned:
° Emu Eucalyptus farm: Yup we met a real Aussie farmer! Big bloke, big hands, dirty teeth, ripped clothes and a big urge to kick those green bastards out of the country! Apparently they are not a big fan of his eucalyptus farm on Kangaroo Island! Anyway... saw some eucalyptus bushes, and old oven and distillery and got to taste and smell some eucalyptus oils and creams!
° Wildlife: The baby koala kissed Babs! And Joey (the baby kangaroo) ate Valeries hair! And also many other animals there on Kangaroo Island. And funny looking toilets as well... Straight to the bottom!
° Chooks in trouble: not sure why (and we really mean this) but during the two day Kangaroo Island trip we earned the name “trouble girls”! No clue why Robert calls us that!
° Na het verrukkelijke middagmaal kregen de 2 trouble girls geen dessert van de verontwaardigde dikke restaurantbazin, nadat ze een stuk uit ons gespreksonderwerp verkeerd opving: “Skinny girls look good in clothes, fit girls look good naked”. FIT girls, not FAT, lady!
° Flinders National Park: Dit park is gevuld met yucca’s. Ziehier een exemplaar van 3000 jaar oud! Ze groeien 10 cm iedere 100 jaar. Babs groeit .. uhh...
.
° Remarkable Rock: Opvallende rotsformaties. For us a place to tan! :)
° Old lighthouse: yeah... kinda self-explanatory isn't it?! De oude is afgebrand en er is een nieuwe vuurtoren gebouwd door één of andere bekende vuurtorenarchitect.
° Fur seals: deze beestjes zijn veel levendiger dan het strand vol schijndode sea-lions gisteren!
° Private practice: Babs en haar verkeerdzittende wervel. Zalig als er een osteopate mee on the road is! De Hollandse treindame nota bene…
° Bush fire: Ook Kangaroo Island ontsnapt niet aan de bushfires!
° Back to Adelaide: Intussen hangt de rook van de bosbranden in de Grampians helemaal boven Adelaide (wat zo'n 500 km ver van de branden is). Think we've been lucky!
° YHA Hostel: Deze hostel heeft een weegschaal dat betekent: 's avonds weegbeurt! Oh-ow... Note to ourselves: geen chips en M&M's meer! Of... Ach, FOERT!!
