Things we learned:

° Early mornings: Geeuw, strek, rek… mhm we hebben heerlijk geslapen in ons barokke bed. Babs heeft haar ochtendjogske al weer achter de rug… We are ready to start this day… Let’s get some exquisite brekky!

° Great Ocean Road Part II: Australian Nature @ it’s best! Lekker plonzen in het water tussen de kliffen van de prachtige rotsformatie Loch Ard Gorge en kattebelletjes voor onze liefjes in het zand schrijven! Jaja, zo melig zijn we wel! ;)

° Warrnambool: Een klein surfstadje en tevens eindstop van The Great Ocean Road. Het stadje waar we gezellig gingen dineren in de lokale surfclub! Vooral zatte locals in hun penopauze. Zo hadden we ons de Aussie surfboys niet echt voorgesteld… De Australische charme heeft ons omver geblazen! ;)

° De Australian rides daarentegen: yummie! Zou goed passen bij onze te overwegen nieuwe rockabilly look!

° Greg: A.k.a. ‘Mister G’ of ‘het lekker lief van Valerie’. Wordt ondanks een vermeend verblijf op Belgische bodem zeer vaak gespot on the road in Australië.

° Bestemming The Grampians: Met 167 000 ha het grootste nationale park van Victoria. De perfecte locatie voor onze eerste roadsign fotoshoot.

° Halls Gap Part I: Was onze voorziene slaapplaats in de Grampians die avond, but… the  bush, the bush, the bush was on fire!! So… forget about driving to Halls Gap, ladies! The roads are closed off! Big bush fire going on there. And they haven’t got it under control yet! Ya won’t get a good night’s rest there. You’d better sleep in Dunkeld!”

° Dunkeld: A city… mhm… no… euhm… a village… no, that’s not it either… euhm… let’s call it a smudge of civilization. One main street with two side streets and a lot of farm land… That’s how big Dunkeld is. But what the town lacks in size it sure makes up for in coziness! We stayed in a beautiful lodge with this big Aussie trooper who kept running around with these big headphones on his head… checking the radiochannels for updates on the fire. We had dinner in the local pub and got checked out by the local boys! Uhu… an 18 year old pimpled blond dude asked for our telephone numbers. We visited the town bakery, got to see the local junkyard and a lovely chat with Ann… the lady of the tourist information centre. Yes… indeed. Dunkeld has a tourist information centre. Don’t ask us why. It just does!

° Bush fire Part I: The bush fire today is contained. Contained is not the same as under control. Contained means that they’ve put a boundary of burned land around the main fires hoping that the bush fire will come to a dead end.

° En ow PS: nog steeds geen slang… Wel een brandslang... Kan misschien nog wel eens van pas komen...
